A Little About Me, Music, And Life

I believe in the power of music to make the world a better place, and the power of people, and art, to inspire our lives and communities - to help us - in so many of the ways we need as humans. I love music, and especially the way it can create beauty, even from sadness. I'm so grateful for music in my own life, and to be able to share it with others.

After/during Covid I became a daddy, homemaker, gardener and scholar, and alongside music spend my time performing graduate work in education as a writer, researcher, artist and hopeful doctoral candidate. Musically, I think this has in some ways made my overall style gentler over time, and more subtle in its emotions - steadier somehow, yet more nuanced. Some reimagined covers include: What A Wonderful World, Both Sides Now, In My Life, I Can't Help Falling In Love With You, Let It Be, Wild Mountain Thyme, She Loves You, and many more - spanning everything from The Beatles, Joni Mitchell and Sarah McLachlan, to Ed Sheeran, Elvis, Oasis, Leonard Cohen, and many others. With this growing repertoire, alongside originals, I craft each set with care and enjoy reinterpreting old classics (especially pop and love ballads); and with ten years of experience, and nearly four-hundred professional performances, over time my ideas about music are growing too. Live music matters more than I knew when I first started playing; I think it helps people to know their own lives matter, and that they're not alone, in a way that is very human and relatable - a way very personal and immediate.

Thanks for taking time to get to know me a little, and I hope to play for you sometime. And no matter what, I  hope you always remember the power of music in your own life - to enjoy it with all your heart - and to know what a wonderful gift it is to have :) Take care, and may all your days be lovely!

                                              Sincerely, Keenan

"Keenan Wilcox's voice is truly a breath of fresh air. His lyrics are genuine, honest. You can feel his heart pouring out. The more you listen, the more you want to hear. The rich strumming of the guitar, accompanied by a warm and soothing voice, makes for an impressive combination. It makes you want to keep listening. One gets the distinct impression Keenan is telling you his secrets. There's an old soul there."
